In addition to core academics, students at FBCS enjoy weekly instruction in Computers, Music, Art, and Physical Education. These subjects enrich student learning by developing creativity, collaboration, physical well-being, and 21st-century skills.
Computers
Starting in second grade, students attend a 40-minute computer class each week. Each student has access to an individual workstation.
- Classes begin with keyboarding practice to build fluency
- Project-based lessons incorporate Microsoft Office and Google Apps
- Integrated learning combines technology with language arts, math, science, social studies, and visual arts
Students learn to:
- Write reports, articles, or letters using Word or Google Docs
- Create presentations, ads, or digital stories using PowerPoint or Google Slides
- Collect, organize, and graph data using Excel or Google Sheets
- These skills prepare students for future academic success and responsible digital citizenship.
All students in PK4 through 5th grade participate in music class. Middle school students may choose music as an elective each semester.
Our music program focuses on choral instruction, preparing students for our major annual performances:
- Grandparents Day
- Christmas Program
- Spring Arts Festival
These performances are biblically based, emphasizing worship and gospel-centered messaging over entertainment.
Students in 5th grade and middle school may audition for cast roles or soloist parts in our musicals.
Middle schoolers are also welcome to apply for our Worship Team, which leads chapel worship each Wednesday.
Music
Art
Art is a required subject for Kindergarten through 5th grade, and an elective option for middle school students each semester.
Our program teaches the Elements of Art (line, shape, color, texture, etc.) and the Principles of Design (balance, contrast, unity, etc.). Students explore a wide variety of media, including:
- Painting: acrylics, oils, watercolors (wet-on-wet, dry brushing, salting)
- Drawing: pencils, colored pencils, charcoal, pastels
- Sculpture & 3D Art: clay, bas relief, carving, mixed media
We also study the work of influential artists and historical art movements, allowing students to create inspired, meaningful pieces.
Each May, our Spring Arts Festival transforms the gym into an art gallery, showcasing student artwork and celebrating creativity. Ribbon-winning pieces are featured in a central exhibit.
Friday is gym day at FBCS! All students wear their school-issued PE uniforms and sneakers for the day. Gym classes range from 30 to 40 minutes, and include:
- A warm-up and stretching routine
- Games and activities that promote fitness, teamwork, and coordination
Our PE program supports students’ physical development and encourages a healthy, active lifestyle.
